Deze kleine Furoshiki toont acteur Otani Onji III in de rol van Edobei, afgebeeld door de mysterieuze kunstenaar Sharaku. Hoewel de echte naam van Sharaku onbekend blijft, bestaat zijn werk voornamelijk uit portretten van acteurs en scènes uit Kabuki-voorstellingen. Hier brengen de strak gesloten mond en open handen van Otani Onji zijn energie en dynamiek tot uitdrukking.

Over Ukiyo-e
Ukiyo-e is een traditionele Japanse kunstvorm die aan het eind van de 19e eeuw grote invloed kreeg in het buitenland.
