Subtile color of the ramen bowl and nice shape
After having been at least one of the people naming the series, of course I had to own one of these beautiful light blue pieces! I usually prefer glossy glazes to matte ones, but this glaze feels so silky smooth and gentle that as soon as I held it, it was one of my favourites. The smooth and gently sloping koshi (bottom curve) without a koudai (foot) feels refreshingly different when held, and it has a beautiful spiral at the bottom that is very satisfying to the touch. I especially chose one of the slightly higher-walled ones to make whisking a little easier and less messy, but it is still quite wide and therefore perfect as a summer chawan because the matcha has a larger surface to cool down. A very special piece that is close to my heart and will always be a favourite 🩵
What a beautifully understated chawan this is at first glance. It's rather large, which I thought might be a bit of a hindrance when whisking the matcha, but it's actually the perfect shape, with the top curving in slightly so as to avoid spilling. And when handled and viewed up close while drinking, one notices the intricate details in the kannyu glaze even more. Because of the flower-shaped top, the rim is also very comfortable to drink from, it's just perfect!
Would have given 10 stars gorgeous ramenbowl.
Love it.
This bowl was a wedding gift for a friend, and they loved it! I was a bit jealous myself, but i will wait for a future drop ;)
Een kopje met een matter glazuur dan bedoeld. Alsnog prachtig.
To begin with, it's amazing to be able to read about your path from a hobby to the business that you have built. Especially because I started much like you - in a course and then self taught in many aspects. In my 20 years of dealing with ceramics, this way or the other, I have never stumbled upon anyone sharing the secrets of the trade so bluntly and unselfishly. So, a big, big thank you for that! Although I was aware of some of the things you wrote about, I haven't had them so neatly organised in my head, nor had I had them figured out so thoroughly. Starting to see a picture now, which is amazing.
The chapters are divided in a clear and logical manner, they cover the basics that are applicable in most countries and regions and it's easy to adjust everything you write about to local legislation. The parts of the e-book that have nothing to do with laws and taxing were easy to adjust and apply to my own way of thinking and functioning. I still haven't finished reading it all the way through, but I read enough to know I loved it! I am highlighting, going back to some parts that I find especially interesting and valuable... it is my morning read with fruit and coffee! I am seriously thinking about making the leap into the unknown and give it a go with a small business, for now alongside my nine-to-five (I am a lawyer), but hopefully I shall be able to keep creating and make it all a bit more focused and meaningful.
I wish you all the best and many, many shop updates to come!
🙏
Lots of good solid advice, it's useful because like the market checklist it is pre-organized in a useable condensed way - I'm using it as a sort of review/reminder of where to focus my energy when I get overwhelmed by task minutia!
Amazing! I love the communication, packaging, and product. This is definitely a business I want to support. I would love it if there was a chasen of this quality available with neutral bamboo, as that is what I prefer to use in chado practice, but I'm am already very happy with this option.
Very inspiring and helpful for anyone like me who wants to start a pottery business. I really liked how honest and practical it feels. It gave me a lot of motivation to stop overthinking and just start. You can tell Abel truly understands the struggles of beginners and shares his real experience instead of generic advices. Definitely recommend it!
Great resource for anyone trying to make their pottery a business! I’m been doing pottery for a few years and am now trying to be more serious. This is an excellent resource for anyone needing some more step by step guides. Thank you!
I have started on the first few chapters of the ebook and I am very pleased with my purchase so far. The writing style makes it very personable and easy to read. It feels like taking advise from a close and kind friend :) It makes me think starting my little business may be daunting but definitely doable!
Beautiful sushi plate of high quality!
The Matcha Whisk Holder - Mori Series was delivered exactly as pictured and well packed. I was also expecting it to take longer to get to me, but was presently surprised when it arrived within a week in the Netherlands. It is that one extra beautiful part of my almost daily tea ritual that makes it more of an intentional practice and break in my day!
The seemingly endless list of tasks to consider when setting up a new small business is enough to cause total overwhelm or even put you off doing it altogether. Breaking it down into small, manageable steps is the only way to push forward and that’s where the ‘Turn Your Passion for Pottery into a Thriving Business’ E-book comes in. It’s written in a friendly way which feels like it supports you on your journey. It helps you to formulate a step-by-step plan and takes the mystery and uncertainty away. It’s a practical guide and also a very honest one, based on the writers’ personal experience of building his own successful ceramics business.
I enjoy dipping in and out if it, when I’m ready to tackle further steps.
The cost of the book was very reasonable and I feel that I have jumped a significant number of steps ahead of where I would have been without it.
The bowl is amazing, it was love at first sight. I don’t really make matcha, but I’ll be having some extra luxurious breakfasts in it. Now please just make some hinoki in blue and I’ll reach my bowl peace.
The pieces look fabulous, exactly how I imagined they would. They were packed into the box very carefully.
An excellent summer tea bowl. The texture is subtle, I almost wish for more to interact with. It’s a calm piece. I will probably just use this as a bowl since I also purchased another Teabowl.
Wow! I was looking for a large fruitbowl and love the Inyo style, but it is even more beautiful in real life. Can highly recommend a piece made by Abel. The bowl is very big, and I was worried about the shipment, but it was very well packaged. Thank you so much!!
