These yunomi cups are thrown on the wheel and finished with a soft, flowing white glaze over warm toffee clay. The contrast between the natural, raw texture and the glossy
These cups from the Inyo Series bring together contrast and calm in one simple form. Each one is thrown on the wheel and half dipped in dark, glossy tenmoku and half in clear glaze over warm toffee clay. Where the two meet, the glaze flows and shifts, creating soft lines, gentle drips, and patterns that can never be repeated.
The balance between the raw clay and glossy surface gives every cup a quiet sense of harmony — simple, natural, and full of depth.

Why You’ll Love It
These yunomi-style cups were made for everyday rituals—drinking tea, taking a break, or just enjoying a quiet sip between tasks. I throw each one with care, keeping the form simple but thoughtful. The glaze is poured and guided by hand, so it settles and drips in its own natural way—some bold, some more subtle.
The clay itself has a warm tone and soft texture that balances beautifully with the glossy tenmoku and clear glaze. It’s a piece that feels nice to hold and easy to reach for, whether it’s morning, afternoon, or somewhere in between.

About the Inyo Series
The Inyo Series began as a quiet experiment. I was curious what might happen if I dipped each piece in two different glazes — one dark and rich tenmoku, the other soft and transparent clear glaze. The result reminded me of a landscape: layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.
“Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang — and this series reflects that idea in both form and finish. Where the two glazes meet, something new and unexpected always appears. Some flows are bold, others gentle — each piece completely unique.
Every item in the series is made slowly and intuitively by hand. The variation in the glazes gives them a sense of quiet movement, and a presence that goes beyond function.
