About Me
About Abel Pepping – Ceramic Artist and Founder of IKKAI Ceramics
Welcome to the world of IKKAI Ceramics, where every piece is a reflection of passion, creativity, and craftsmanship. My name is Abel Pepping, and I am the ceramic artist behind IKKAI Ceramics, based in Beverwijk, Netherlands.
My Journey into Pottery
After spending over 20 years as a chef in high-level kitchens, I discovered a new passion in pottery that reignited my creative spirit. The precision and artistry required in both cooking and ceramics share a common thread, and this inspired me to transition into crafting unique, handmade pottery.
Crafting Unique Ceramics
At IKKAI Ceramics, I specialize in creating functional yet artistic pieces, including matcha bowls, vases, and tableware. Each item is handmade in my cozy home studio, ensuring that no two pieces are alike. My work is deeply influenced by Japanese aesthetics, with natural tones, soft pastel glazes, and bold cobalt blue designs.
Family and Studio Life
My studio is more than just a workspace; it’s a place where creativity and family come together. I’m lucky to have the support of my wife, who helps behind the scenes, and my two sons, who love exploring the art of pottery alongside me. Together, we’ve built a home filled with love and creativity.
