EXACT PIECE PICTURED - You will receive the exact piece shown in the photographs

A one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic lampshade from my Inyo Series. At 9 cm high and 17 cm in diameter, this is a small lampshade with a deeper, rounded shape.

The upper part has been left unglazed, allowing the warm colour of the stoneware clay and the throwing lines from the pottery wheel to remain visible. The lower part is finished half in tenmoku glaze and half in clear glaze.

Where the two glazes meet, they have flowed and reacted during firing, creating dark edges, olive tones and natural variations. The clear-glazed section allows the colour of the clay to remain visible while giving it a smooth, glossy finish.

The inside is also divided between tenmoku and clear glaze, making the contrast especially visible when viewed from below.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

The deeper shape surrounds the bulb more closely than a wide, shallow lampshade, directing more of the light downwards.

Its compact size makes it a lovely choice for beside a bed, above a small side table, in a reading corner or above a kitchen counter. It has enough character to stand on its own without feeling too large.

The contrast between the deep tenmoku glaze, clear glaze and natural unglazed clay makes the lampshade look different from every angle. The line where the two glazes meet moved naturally during firing, making this exact pattern impossible to repeat.

ABOUT THE SERIES

The Inyo Series began as a quiet experiment. I was curious what might happen if I dipped each piece in two different glazes. One dark and rich Tenmoku, the other soft and transparent clear glaze. The result reminded me of a landscape: layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.

Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang and this series reflects that idea in both form and finish. Where the two glazes meet, something new and unexpected always appears. Some flows are bold, others gentle — each piece completely unique.

Every item in the series is made slowly and intuitively by hand. The variation in the glazes gives them a sense of quiet movement, and a presence that goes beyond function.
