Faceted yunomi cup - Crackle Glaze

A small cup with a strong, sculptural presence. This yunomi was shaped and then carefully faceted by hand, giving it a geometric form that catches the light from different angles.

Inside, a glossy crackle glaze creates a beautiful network of fine lines across the surface. The outside is left in warm natural clay, allowing the texture and colour of the clay body to remain visible. The contrast between the smooth glazed interior and the raw exterior gives the cup both character and balance.

It’s a quiet piece, simple in colour but full of detail when you look a little closer.

This is a one of a kind piece. It was made as part of a glaze test and I am not planning to make more like this.

• Shape: Faceted yunomi cup with geometric sides and small foot
• Size: Approx. 8cm high x 8.5cm wide
• Capacity: 200ml
• Finish: Glossy crackle glaze inside, natural clay exterior
• Material: High-fired stoneware (1222°C)

Due to the nature of the crackle glaze, the fine lines may develop subtle staining over time, especially with tea.
This natural patina becomes part of the bowl’s story, but if you prefer to keep the glaze looking light and clear, it’s best to rinse the bowl soon after use.

If you want to protect the crackle more actively, you can occasionally rub the surface with a gentle baking soda paste and rinse well.

Because this was part of a glaze test there is only one available. Once it is gone, it will not be repeated.
