This matcha bowl was made during a glaze test in the studio. I was experimenting with a soft pale blue glaze and this piece came out of the kiln with a really calm, misty surface that shifts gently between pale blue, soft grey and warm tones from the clay beneath.

The bowl has a wide, open shape with a small pouring lip, giving it a slightly different character from my usual matcha bowls. The form feels grounded and balanced, while the glaze settles naturally across the surface creating quiet movement.

Because this was part of a glaze test, this piece is completely one of a kind.

Why You’ll Love It

The wide open shape makes this bowl especially comfortable for preparing matcha. It gives plenty of space for whisking and allows the tea to foam beautifully.

The small pouring lip also makes it practical if you enjoy preparing matcha and pouring it into another cup or sharing it between two smaller cups.

The pale blue glaze has a very calm quality. In some light it appears soft blue, in others it shifts slightly toward grey with warm tones from the clay body showing through. These natural variations give the bowl depth while still feeling simple and quiet.

Because this bowl came from a glaze test, there is only one available.
