Each bowl is wheel-thrown from warm toffee-colored stoneware and finished with a flowing combination of clear and tenmoku glaze. Where the two glazes meet, something different happens every time — sometimes bold, sometimes subtle — always one of a kind.

About the Inyo Series

The Inyo Series began as a quiet experiment. I was curious what might happen if I dipped each piece in two different glazes — one dark and rich tenmoku, the other soft and transparent clear glaze. The result reminded me of a landscape: layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.

“Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang — and this series reflects that idea in both form and finish. Where the two glazes meet, something new and unexpected always appears. Some flows are bold, others gentle — each piece completely unique.

Every item in the series is made slowly and intuitively by hand. The variation in the glazes gives them a sense of quiet movement, and a presence that goes beyond function.
