This bowl is all about quiet complexity — the soft glow of the glaze, the fine crackle lines dancing beneath the surface, and the gentle curve of the form. Finished with a clear kannyū glaze, it reveals a delicate network of hairline cracks that shimmer in the light, like ripples on still water.
It’s timeless and tactile — a bowl that invites closer attention.
Product Details
- Shape: Rounded bowl with softly tapered base
- Size: Approx. 7cm height x 21.5cm diameter
- Finish: Clear crackle glaze (kannyū) over natural stoneware
- Material: Durable stoneware, high-fired at 1222°C
Due to the nature of the crackle glaze (kannyū), the fine lines may develop subtle staining over time, especially with tea.
This natural patina becomes part of the bowl’s story, but if you prefer to keep the glaze looking light and clear, it’s best to rinse the bowl soon after use.
If you want to protect the crackle more actively, you can occasionally rub the surface with a gentle baking soda paste and rinse well.
Why You’ll Love It
The kannyū glaze tells a story. With time and use, the fine crackle lines may deepen slightly — a living patina that makes the bowl even more personal. It’s ideal for serving big shared dishes, salads, or simply living on the table as a sculptural centerpiece.
It’s not just functional — it’s a quiet celebration of imperfection, change, and craftsmanship.
