Yunomi Cup - Beige

A small cup that came from a bit of experimentation in the studio. I was testing a new beige glaze and this piece was one of the first to come out of the kiln. The soft colour settles beautifully over the surface, creating gentle variation and depth.

On the outside I applied slip in soft, flowing shapes. This adds a subtle texture that the glaze settles into, creating natural movement across the surface. The result feels calm, warm, and quietly sculptural.

This is a one-of-a-kind piece. It was made as part of a glaze test and I’m not planning to make more.

• Shape: Small tea cup with slip decoration on the exterior and a trimmed foot
• Size: Approx. 6cm high x 8cm wide
• Capacity: 200ml
• Finish: Glossy beige glaze with soft natural variation
• Material: High-fired stoneware (1222°C)

Why You’ll Love It

This cup has a quiet, sculptural presence. The slip decoration on the outside creates a gentle rhythm around the form, while the glaze settles differently across the surface, creating subtle shifts in tone.

It sits comfortably in the hand and works beautifully for tea, coffee, or even a small matcha. The slightly wider opening also makes it lovely for small desserts or snacks.

Inside, you can still see the soft throwing lines from the wheel, a small reminder of the handmade process.

Because this piece was part of a glaze test, there is only one available. Once it’s gone, it’s truly gone.
