Yunomi Cup - Hinoki #05

A smaller expression of the Hinoki Series — these yunomi cups carry the same quiet strength and presence as the matcha bowls, now shaped for everyday tea moments.
Each cup is made by hand and decorated with slip, applied in soft, flowing lines that build subtle texture across the surface. The deep green glaze settles into these lines, creating variation and depth. No two cups are alike — and that’s exactly what makes them special.

Why You’ll Love It
These cups are small, but full of presence. I made them for tea, but they’re the kind of pieces that end up being used for lots of things — a little sake, olives, dips, or just sitting on a shelf catching the light.
The slip decoration adds a quiet rhythm to each cup. The way the glaze moves over the raised lines creates soft patterns and gives the surface a tactile quality you’ll notice every time you pick it up. They feel grounded and comfortable in the hand — functional, but also a bit sculptural.
They’re part of the Hinoki Series, which is inspired by the Hinoki tree in Japan — known for its strength, straightness, and calm energy. For me, these cups are a reminder to stay rooted and slow down.

About the Hinoki Series
The Hinoki Series is inspired by the vibrant green color of the Hinoki tree, a symbol of purity, calmness, and serenity in Japanese culture. The tree’s rich, soothing green tones are reflected in this collection, evoking a sense of tranquility and elegance. The matcha bowls in this series are extra special, with a textured layer that requires more craftsmanship and attention to detail. This added layer not only enhances the visual appeal but also adds depth and character to each piece, making them perfect for your tea rituals.
