Yunomi Cup - Pale Blue

A small cup that came out of a glaze test in the studio. I was experimenting with a new pale blue glaze and this piece was one of the results from that firing. The colour settles softly across the surface, shifting between pale blue, soft grey and warm tones from the clay underneath.

The form has a quiet, rounded shape with gentle folds that give the cup a slightly organic feel. Light moves across these curves in a beautiful way, giving the surface a calm sense of depth.

This is a one of a kind piece. It was made as part of a glaze test and I am not planning to make more like this.

• Shape: Rounded tea cup with soft folded form and small foot
• Size: Approx. 6cm high x 8cm wide

• Finish: Glossy pale blue glaze with soft natural variation
• Material: High-fired stoneware (1222°C)

Why You’ll Love It

This cup has a very calm presence. The rounded form and soft folds make it comfortable to hold, while the glaze creates subtle shifts in colour across the surface.

In some areas the glaze appears softly blue, while in others it becomes slightly grey or warmer where the clay body influences the tone. These gentle variations give the cup depth without feeling busy.

It works beautifully for tea, coffee, or a small matcha. The wider opening also makes it nice for small desserts or snacks.

Because this was part of a glaze test there is only one available. Once it is gone, it will not be repeated.
