This handmade ceramic lampshade combines the natural surface of the stoneware clay with my Black Truffle glaze on the inside.

The exterior has been left unglazed, allowing the natural colour and texture of the clay to remain visible. The throwing lines from the pottery wheel have also been left as part of the design, running across the entire surface and showing how the piece was made.

Inside, the lampshade is finished with Black Truffle glaze, creating a strong contrast with the natural exterior.

The wide, softly curved shape makes this a beautiful statement piece on its own. It would work especially well above a dining table, kitchen island or larger side table, and could also be combined with another ceramic lampshade.

  • Fitting: Bronze vintage-style fitting, E27 bulb holder with a matching bronze ceiling rose

  • Material: Durable stoneware clay, fired at 1222°c

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

This lampshade is all about the combination of natural clay, visible throwing lines and the dark Black Truffle interior.

Leaving the outside unglazed keeps the texture of the stoneware completely visible, while the glazed interior adds contrast when you look underneath the shade.

Its wider shape gives it more presence than my smaller ceramic lampshades, making it a good choice if you want the lamp itself to become part of the focus of your interior.

ABOUT THE SERIES

The Black Truffle Series is inspired by the deep, earthy tones and natural beauty of black truffles. Its rich matte glaze moves between warm black, charcoal and subtle brown tones as the light changes, giving each piece a quiet depth and understated elegance.

Many of the pieces are individually carved by hand, creating textured surfaces that catch the light and make the dark glaze feel even more alive. Alongside the smoother forms, each piece is handmade in small batches, allowing the natural variations in the carving, clay and glaze to make every one completely unique.
