Inspired by natural materials and simple forms, this handmade serving platter combines warm toffee-coloured stoneware with the distinctive glaze combination of the Inyo Series. The flowing boundary between the glossy tenmoku glaze and clear glaze creates a landscape-like pattern that makes each piece completely unique.
Its generous size makes it perfect for serving pastries, sharing dishes, sushi, fruit, sandwiches, or simply displaying as a decorative centrepiece on a table.
Product Details
- Size: Approx. 30 cm diameter x 3.5 cm high
- Design: Wide serving platter with a rounded rolled edge
- Finish: Tenmoku and clear glaze interior, raw clay exterior

Because every plate is handmade, the flowing glaze pattern, subtle drips, and natural variations visible in the photos will differ slightly from piece to piece, making each plate uniquely its own.
Why You’ll Love It
What I love most about this platter is its shape. Rather than having a traditional raised rim, the broad rounded edge rolls softly underneath the form, creating a sculptural profile that feels substantial yet elegant.
The combination of glossy tenmoku glaze and clear glaze has become a signature of the Inyo Series. Where the two glazes meet, subtle variations appear in every firing, creating soft transitions and depth that can never be repeated exactly.
The large open surface makes this piece incredibly versatile. Use it for serving food when guests visit, displaying seasonal fruit, or simply as a statement piece on a dining table or kitchen island.
The throwing lines remain visible throughout the clay body, a quiet reminder that the platter was shaped entirely by hand on the wheel.
About the Inyo Series
The Inyo Series was born from an experiment: dipping one piece in two contrasting glazes and letting them flow together across the clay. The result reminded me of a landscape — layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.
“Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang, and this series reflects that idea through both form and finish. Every bowl becomes its own meeting point between opposites, where something new and unexpected always appears.
Each piece is handmade slowly and intuitively, carrying a surface that feels alive and balanced. The Inyo Series is a reminder that beauty often comes from contrast.
