Named after the Japanese concept of yin and yang, this piece reflects balance in form, texture, and tone. The contrast between the raw stoneware body and the deep tenmoku glaze creates a quiet tension — earthy and refined, soft and bold, all in one small bowl.
The glaze flows freely along the rim, cascading into the interior like moving water. Inside, rich tones of black, bronze, and cream blend together in a way that feels spontaneous and serene. On the outside, a clear glaze over the raw speckled clay reveals the natural character of the material.

Why You’ll Love It
There’s something quietly striking about this bowl. It holds opposites in harmony — glossy and matte, dark and light, refined and raw — all coming together in a soft, balanced form.
The tenmoku glaze spills over the rim like a slow stream, pooling into layers of bronze, black, and cream. Each one is slightly different, with its own rhythm and flow. The outside is left mostly bare, with only a clear glaze to reveal the texture and warmth of the clay beneath.
It’s just the right size for a small serving — a bowl of nuts or olives, some fresh fruit, or a simple homemade sauce. More than functional, it’s a quiet companion to your table. Something that invites you to slow down and enjoy what’s in front of you.
Pair it with our handcrafted wooden spoon for a simple, natural combination that adds warmth to your tea or table ritual.
About the Inyo Series
The Inyo Series began as a quiet experiment. I was curious what might happen if I dipped each piece in two different glazes — one dark and rich tenmoku, the other soft and transparent clear glaze. The result reminded me of a landscape: layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.
“Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang — and this series reflects that idea in both form and finish. Where the two glazes meet, something new and unexpected always appears. Some flows are bold, others gentle — each piece completely unique.
Every item in the series is made slowly and intuitively by hand. The variation in the glazes gives them a sense of quiet movement, and a presence that goes beyond function.
Perfect for anyone who appreciates both the bold and the simple.
