A smaller expression of the matcha bowls you already love — these yunomi cups carry the same quiet elegance, now in a more compact form for everyday tea.
Each one is wheel-thrown and dipped in a transparent crackle glaze, which reveals its delicate pattern of fine lines — a natural result of glaze meeting clay. The softly flowing rim adds a sense of movement and makes each cup feel like a little sculpture.
Please Note
This cup has a small fault in the glaze and is slightly more matt than it should be. It’s purely cosmetic and does not affect use, strength, or durability. Because of this, the price has been reduced. See photo for detail.
Product Details
- Shape: Softly rounded form with gently flared, flower-shaped rim
- Size: Approx. 6.5cm high x 8cm wide
- Capacity: 250ml
- Finish: Clear crackle glaze
- Material: High-fired stoneware (1222°C)
- Note: All cups have slightly different shapes. The one in the photo is the exact one you’ll receive.
Due to the nature of the crackle glaze (kannyū), the fine lines may develop subtle staining over time, especially with tea.
This natural patina becomes part of the bowl’s story, but if you prefer to keep the glaze looking light and clear, it’s best to rinse the bowl soon after use.
If you want to protect the crackle more actively, you can occasionally rub the surface with a gentle baking soda paste and rinse well.
Why You’ll Love It
There’s something about this little cup that makes me smile every time I hold it. A smaller version of my Kannyū matcha bowls — same soft form, same gentle crackle glaze, just a bit more intimate.
I made these cups for quiet tea moments. The kind where the sunlight hits just right and everything slows down for a minute.
