Large Bowl - Inyo #01

A generous serving bowl with an organic shape and the distinctive glaze combination that has become a signature of the Inyo Series. Wheel-thrown by hand in my home studio, this bowl combines flowing Tenmoku glaze with glossy clear glaze, creating a piece that feels both striking and natural.

The rim gently moves around the form with subtle curves and soft irregularities, giving the bowl a relaxed, organic character. Visible throwing rings and natural glaze movement ensure that no two bowls are ever exactly alike.

About the Inyo Series

The Inyo Series was born from an experiment: dipping one piece in two contrasting glazes and letting them flow together across the clay. The result reminded me of a landscape — layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.

“Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang, and this series reflects that idea through both form and finish. Every bowl becomes its own meeting point between opposites, where something new and unexpected always appears.

Each piece is handmade slowly and intuitively, carrying a surface that feels alive and balanced. The Inyo Series is a reminder that beauty often comes from contrast.
