This rectangular plate begins as a tall cylinder on the wheel. While the clay is still firm, I carefully cut it open and ease it flat by hand, allowing the form to relax naturally. The gentle curves along the edges still hint at its round beginnings, giving the plate movement and character while preserving a clean, minimalist shape.
Part of the Yuki Ash Series, this piece is made from ash-grey stoneware clay and finished with a glossy white glaze. The glaze settles beautifully into the subtle ridges across the surface, while areas of exposed clay create a soft contrast that highlights the handmade process.

Why You’ll Love It
Long, elegant, and versatile, this plate is ideal for serving sushi, small dishes, pastries, appetisers, or desserts. The elongated shape naturally draws the eye and creates a beautiful presentation on the table.
I particularly love how the white glaze interacts with the darker clay body. The contrast feels calm and natural, while the ridged texture adds depth without taking away from the simplicity of the form.
It pairs beautifully with other pieces from the Yuki Ash collection and works just as well as a decorative piece when not in use
