Part of the Inyo Series, this handmade Matcha Bowl with Spout brings together two very different glazes—dark, glossy tenmoku and soft, transparent clear—that meet and flow across warm stoneware clay. Each bowl is wheel-thrown in my home studio and glazed by hand, allowing the surfaces to overlap in ways that are always spontaneous, layered, and unique.
The spout adds a quiet practicality to the piece — perfect for pouring matcha, sauces, or dressings — while keeping the same calm, balanced form found throughout the Inyo Series.
Please note: The matcha whisk, spoon, and whisk holder are not included, but can be added to complete your tea setup.
This bowl carries contrast in its purest form. The tenmoku glaze moves boldly across the surface, while the clear glaze softens and reveals the natural warmth of the clay beneath. Where they meet, new landscapes appear—sometimes gentle, sometimes dramatic—always unexpected, always unique.
The spout adds a touch of graceful functionality, making it easy to pour with precision. The surface feels smooth and soft in your hands, sturdy and balanced when whisking or serving. Generous in size, it’s perfect for preparing matcha or serving sauces with quiet elegance.
What makes it special is not just how it looks, but how it feels. The surface is soft and smooth in your hands, sturdy and balanced when whisking, and generous in size for preparing traditional matcha. It’s a piece with quiet presence, made to be used and appreciated over time.
Perfect for slow mornings, tea with friends, or whenever you want to take a moment to pause. Pair it with a Matching Whisk Holder or Bamboo Tea Accessories to complete your matcha setup.
The Inyo Series began as a quiet experiment. I was curious what might happen if I dipped each piece in two different glazes — one dark and rich tenmoku, the other soft and transparent clear glaze. The result reminded me of a landscape: layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.
“Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang — and this series reflects that idea in both form and finish. Where the two glazes meet, something new and unexpected always appears. Some flows are bold, others gentle — each piece completely unique.
Every item in the series is made slowly and intuitively by hand. The variation in the glazes gives them a sense of quiet movement, and a presence that goes beyond function.

I love this Matcha bowl. It is utterly stunning as an object and it is also extremely functional. I love using it almost on a daily basis or even just looking at it.
