This round textured matcha bowl from the Inyo Series has a comfortable, balanced shape that feels good in the hands. It’s made with real tea moments in mind — the kind where you slow down, whisk properly, and actually enjoy the process.

On the outside, I’ve added slip to create a soft texture. You can feel the subtle movement of the clay, which gives it character and a bit more grip. Inside, the tenmoku and clear glaze meet and flow together naturally. Every bowl turns out slightly different, which is part of what makes this series special.

It’s honest, tactile, and made to be used — not just admired.

About the Inyo Series

The Inyo Series began as a quiet experiment. I was curious what might happen if I dipped each piece in two different glazes — one dark and rich tenmoku, the other soft and transparent clear glaze. The result reminded me of a landscape: layered, spontaneous, and full of contrast.

“Inyo” is the Japanese word for yin and yang — and this series reflects that idea in both form and finish. Where the two glazes meet, something new and unexpected always appears. Some flows are bold, others gentle — each piece completely unique.

Every item in the series is made slowly and intuitively by hand. The variation in the glazes gives them a sense of quiet movement, and a presence that goes beyond function.
